I grew up on the North Coast, and through my relatives' work and private interests, I evolved an early connection to the history and nature of this place. And climate change is an important topic right now. So this special landscape and the people living there that are influenced by the changing climate and catastrophic events were a perfect topic for a book. The Frisians have often been overlooked, sitting next to the Angels and Saxons, but in my research I found out that these people did incredible things.
