Since I completed my bachelor’s degree at the MSD, it felt natural for me to pursue my master’s there as well. The friendships I formed during my studies, alongside the critique from the professors, allowed me to grow creatively.

SOEOEK
In my graphic novel, I rewrite and interpret old legends and myths from northwestern Germany. I’ve always been a fan of magical creatures and ghosts, and I thought it would be nice to showcase almost forgotten stories from my roots. In my story SOEOEK (transl. “search” in Low German), we follow the headstrong protagonist Lili on her path of revenge, encountering witches, ghosts, and Klabautermen along the way. The project was intended to be an art book showcasing lesser-known traditional everyday clothing. After much back and forth, however, I decided to turn it into a graphic novel. To put it simply, I wanted to focus on things that bring me joy. For example, world-building and designing different characters. The point of this project is to write and design stories and to hope that others enjoy reading them and become emotionally invested in the characters.
