I’m 25 years old, and it’s only in the past few years that I’ve really started to feel comfortable and at home within my small group of friends. It’s been a long and not always easy journey. Almost everyone I know has gone through a similar phase or is still in it. A time when you often feel lonely in relationships and friendships. The main thing is not to be alone. It feels easier to hold on to connections that feel empty than to be by yourself. It seems better to be part of a group where you don’t really feel seen than to risk missing out. But why are we actually so afraid of being alone?With my illustration project “Einsam oder Alleine?” I want to explore exactly this topic. Being alone doesn’t have to mean feeling lonely. It can even be beautiful if you learn to give yourself space and time.
